Brandon co-created and co-founded The Dynamic Advantage: Your Professional Fitness Team in 1995 with business partner, Rick Caputo. He is a principal owner of the Pasadena, CA-based fitness services company. A graduate of Concordia University in Austin, TX with a B. A. in Business Management, he also studied Petroleum Engineering at the University of Texas in Austin. Additionally, he has earned a Resistance Training Specialist (RTS) designation for advanced studies in exercise biomechanics at Resistance University in Oklahoma City, OK and Personal Fitness Trainer certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and the American Council on Exercise (ACE).
Since entering the field of fitness education and coaching, he has managed and served individuals whose needs have included post-rehabilitation, increased functional strength, body fat reduction and ergonomic evaluations for the workplace. Brandon created and began the specialty Dynamic Strength Training program for the non-profit Cancer Support Community in Pasadena on April 1, 1996.
The program’s exposure led to opportunities at several Los Angeles-area medical centers including Arcadia Methodist Hospital, Huntington Memorial Hospital, Glendale Memorial Hospital, St. Vincent Medical Center, Torrance Memorial Medical Center and St. John’s Medical Center. The Dynamic Advantage’s staff conducted grant-funded programs at each location to help cancer survivors plus pre and post kidney transplant survivors regain lost strength, energy and confidence that were compromised due to their surgery and subsequent treatments.
Helping Improve the Fitness Industry
Brandon is a six-time workshop presenter for IDEA, the Health and Fitness Association at their World Fitness IDEA Conferences and International Personal Training Summits in California, Florida, Nevada and Maryland. He has helped educate over 500 fitness trainers throughout the country from Honolulu, HI to New York City, NY while serving as a practical applications instructor for NASM and co-hosting several continuing education workshops in Southern California for ACE and NASM-certified trainers. In 2002, Dynamic Strength Training for Cancer Survivors at St. Vincent Medical Center in Los Angeles was a national finalist for the International Health, Racquet and Sports Club Association’s (IHRSA), Best Innovation in Exercise Programming award.
Fitness Training for the Corporate World
Brandon’s skills have also been in demand from numerous other businesses and organizations. Since July 2003, he and business partner Rick Caputo, have conducted Dynamic Strength Training fitness programs for employees of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in La Canada, CA.
Since 1999, he has spread the benefits of fitness to staff members of Canyon Ranch Spa, Mattel Toys, the Los Angeles Human Resources Association, The Sports Club Company and Texas Instruments. Brandon has been featured on the local CBS News affiliate in Los Angeles and has written several trainer education articles for fitness industry publications.
