Quick & Easy Pretzels

This is a great snack that is hot and ready in a little over an hour.

Here’s what you need:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour, divided
  • 1 Tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • 1 Tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 3 Tablespoons Earth balance Margarine, melted (optional)
  • Coarse sea salt (optional)
  1. Combine 1 cup of flour, the canola oil, the apple juice and the yeast, mix with electric mixer for 3 minutes. Add the remaining cup of flour.
  2. Dust part of your counter with flour, dump the dough onto the prepared area and knead for 10-15 minutes, adding sprinkles of flour as needed. Roll 8 pieces of dough into long snakes, and form it into a pretzel.
  3. Place the pretzels on an oiled baking sheet, cover with a clean dish towel, and allow to rise for 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Brush the melted Earth balance over each pretzel and sprinkle with salt.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
